A massive, large-scale Russian aerial attack occurred overnight into Sunday, October 5, 2025, targeting multiple regions across Ukraine.

- Lviv Region (Western Ukraine):
- This region, including the city of Lviv, suffered its largest aerial assault since the start of the full-scale invasion.
- Four people were killed, including a 15-year-old, in a combined drone and missile strike that hit residential areas.
- A business complex (civilian facility) on the outskirts of Lviv caught fire.
- The strike caused power outages in two districts and temporarily suspended public transport.
- Zaporizhzhia Region (Southern Ukraine):
- An aerial assault using drones and guided aerial bombs killed one civilian woman and wounded nine others, including a 16-year-old girl.
- Residential buildings were destroyed, and the strike cut power to approximately 73,000 households.
- Donetsk Region (Eastern Ukraine):
- Six people, including a child, were injured in Sloviansk after a Russian guided aerial bomb hit an apartment block.
- Ivano-Frankivsk Region:
- One person was reported injured, and critical infrastructure sites were targeted.
Targeting and Military Hardware
- Primary Targets: Ukrainian officials stated the attack primarily targeted civilian infrastructure, especially energy and gas facilities, ahead of the winter season. The CEO of Ukraine’s state-owned Naftogaz Group confirmed that the attack inflicted further large-scale damage on civilian gas infrastructure.
